Three Action Thursday

Taxes, Rules for Life, and Quotes

This week I have a blend of tax tips and rules for life mixed with a few quotes for your pondering.

What I’m Watching

Taxes were due this week. Interested in saving cash next year instead of giving to Uncle Sam? First, re-read my piece on why side hustles and businesses are great for your income and your tax strategies. But I would also encourage you to watch this video from the ChooseFI (aka. Choose Financial Independence) Podcast. Their latest podcast is on YouTube, called Tax Tips for Side Hustlers

What I’m Reading

One of my favorite writers, Ryan Holiday, just released a new piece called “50 (Short) Rules for Life”. It’s a fantastic reminder of how we should consider addressing the ups and downs of life.

My favorite five rules of the 50 are (in no particular order):

1. Try to see the good in people.

2. Never be overheard complaining…even to yourself.

3. Be strict with yourself and tolerant of others.

4. Associate only with people that make you better.

5. If someone offends you, realize you are complicit in taking offense.

Quotes I’m Pondering

What you expect of yourself will be closely linked to what you accomplish.

~ E. A. Teppe

There is nothing more tragic than to find an individual bogged down in the length of life, devoid of breadth.

~ Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., American clergyman and activist

Never sacrifice a permanent good for a temporary pleasure.
