A New Twist on Herd Immunity

I hope this piece finds you and your family happy, healthy, and safe! [I recommend reading the entire piece, there is a special offer for you!] A few weeks ago I wrote a piece called Social Distancing is Dumb in which I pushed against the term “social distancing” and instead embraced “spatial distancing”. In an accompanying piece, Do You Know What is Worse than Coronavirus?, I tackled what I perceived as one of the greatest negative impacts due to the pandemic, namely discouragement. In my mind, today’s piece is a continuation of those pieces. “Herd immunity” is often described as a form of indirect protection from infectious disease that occurs…

    Why I Declined Government Assistance

**Disclaimer: This is a politically agnostic piece. Any attempt to bend my words toward or against your partisan ideals is a reflection on you and not on me.** Another Thursday is upon us! I apologize for the two-week hiatus from visiting your inbox. I firmly believe the three tenets of Three Action Thursday (building authentic relationships, financial literacy, and personal/professional growth) have allowed me to make logical and intelligent decisions for my family and my businesses in the shadows of this pandemic.  As most of you know, I am a serial entrepreneur. I am the steward of multiple investment properties, a real estate brokerage, and an IT company. Although my…

    Content for the Confined

Another Three Action Thursday piece is here, serving up knowledge bombs for your brain! Last week’s piece entitled “Do You Know What is Worse than Coronavirus?” covered the mental effects of the pandemic and how we can push past the discouragement part of this global challenge. This week my hope is to provide you with some content that you use at home on your own or with your family. VIRTUAL TOURS & LIVE CAMS Many of the museums and zoos here in the United States and around the world have laboriously created detailed virtual tours utilizing high-resolution pictures, 360-degree walk-throughs, videos, etc. Others are utilizing their live cams to offer…

Do You Know What is Worse than Coronavirus?

Last week’s piece entitled “Social Distancing is Dumb“ raised a few eyebrows, but I think there is a lot of power in the words we use and “social distancing” is just the wrong reaction to this pandemic. Additionally, do you know what is worse than coronavirus?  Discouragement.  Being discouraged is far worse than the virus.  The movie It’s A Wonderful Life opens with God, St. Peter and Clarence having a conversation about George Bailey. Bailey is Clarence’s first opportunity to be a guardian angel. And Bailey is in desperate need of Clarence’s services. Clarence asks God, “What’s wrong? Is he sick?” To which God replies, “No. Worse. He’s discouraged.” Discouragement…

    Social Distancing is Dumb

Our lives have changed so quickly in the last two weeks, haven’t they? It is so crazy. I am personally conflicted over the virus and our country/world’s response to it. But there is one thing of which I am 100% certain: in times of stress, we should not be socially distant from one another. Now before you jump down my throat about the importance of it, let me explain. My definition is different. We need each other in these turbulent times, perhaps more than ever; we should not be “socially” apart. I think the terminology the media is using is all wrong. We should absolutely be “spatially distant” from each…
