Content On Repeat

Three Action Thursday here, bringing you three unique pieces of positive content guaranteed to help you become a better person (or at least push you to try to be).

What I’m Watching

The Map of Tiny Perfect Things is an Amazon Original Movie. Although the movie is not geared towards my demographic, HOLY COW was it good and refreshing! It’s like Bill Murray’s Groundhog Day but updated for today’s audience and with more of a romantic/philosophical lean than a comedic one. The plot centers around Mark, a high school student who is reliving each day over and over again. Then his world is turned upside down when he discovers another person who is reliving the day with him. The two are set on a course to determine how to get out of their ever-repeating day, or perhaps they’ll choose to stay in it forever. You’ll have to watch it to see.

What I’m Reading

Sharing this book with you is long overdue. Seth Godin’s Linchpin: Are You Indispensable? is a fantastic read. In the workplace, there used to be two teams: management and labor. Now there’s a third team, the linchpins. These people figure out what to do when there’s no rule book. They delight and challenge their customers and peers. They love their work, pour their best selves into it, and turn each day into a kind of art. They win. They are happier. And they get paid more. If you are in a career rut or just looking for something to re-energize yourself, I can NOT recommend this book enough!

Quotes I’m Pondering

Unless you try to do something beyond what you have already mastered, you will never grow.

 – Ralph Waldo Emerson, American lecturer, philosopher, essayist, and poet

The best and safest thing is to keep a balance in your life, acknowledge the great powers around us and in us. If you can do that, and live that way, you are really a wise person.

 – Euripides, tragedian of classical Athens
