It’s a special “I have a dream” edition of Three Action Thursday (3AT).
This week’s 3AT will cover….
- MLK’s personal copy of the “I have a dream” speech still exists and should push us to dream bigger.
- Are we all supposed to be leaders like MLK?
Last year I was blessed to have lunch with George Raveling. Mr. Raveling has had an incredible life. George is a basketball legend, a Nike executive, and a civil rights activist.
George was part of Martin Luther King Jr’s security team during the “I have a dream” speech. MLK handed him the written copy after he completed giving the speech. Incredibly, George still has the written speech. So AMAZING!!! He’s been offered over $3M for it.
**Action: Create a dream board for you and/or your family. What would your life look like if you had all the money you need/ want? What would you do? Where would you live?**
Use Google to find more examples of dream boards, but here’s a picture of ours. Stacy (my wife) and I did it together in PowerPoint then had it printed REALLY BIG on foam board. It hangs in the master bedroom at our house.
PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT/RELATIONSHIP BUILDING
(Yes, combined for this week)
Are you leading?
Not everyone is called to start a company.
Run for office.
Or lead incredible civil change like Martin Luther King Jr.
But on this road of life that we are ALL on, we are called to influence and lead those around us even in small ways. And to do this we MUST push ourselves to be better humans each day and we MUST form authentic relationships built on trust. One of my favorites from Proverbs…
Give careful thought to the paths for your feet, and be steadfast in all your ways.
– Proverbs 4:26
Whether it’s our children, spouses, significant others, family, friends, or acquaintances.
**Action #2: Read/Listen to one personal development book this week/month. Here’s a good one… Stephen Covey’s “The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People: Powerful Lessons in Personal Change”.**
**Action #3: To strengthen an existing relationship, send a personal email to a friend or family member who you think might benefit from this email distribution and/or the facebook group.**
I’ll even give you the email text you can use…..
I wanted to drop you a quick note to share something with you.
This year I’ve made it a goal of mine to do a better job of <insert your thing (ex: building authentic relationships, personal/professional development, or planning our personal finances)> . I joined this group called Three Action Thursday to give me ideas and to push me.
Three Action Thursday (3AT) is a weekly blog that provides high-quality ACTIONABLE content in the areas of Personal Finance, Building Authentic Relationships, and Personal/Professional Development. I thought you might benefit from it, and maybe you’d even want to join.
<insert your name>
Until next week 3AT’ers!!!!
