Three Action Thursday

Life is Messy

So maybe the subject line/title of this piece is a bit clickbait-ish, but in fairness, it is the name of one of the books I am going to read. Take some action this week to live your best life – I’ve got some content below to help you!  In this week’s piece, we cover one of my favorite finance authors, the books I am intending to read next, and a double dose of quotes to think and live by.

I am humbled that you read my writing. If you want to interact more feel free to email me and/or join our Three Action Thursday Facebook Group.

What I am Watching

Author Morgan Housel visits Tim Ferriss’s podcast and does three hours of solid content. Yes, THREE HOURS! I know it’s daunting, but if you are a personal finance nut (like me) just digest it over a few days or a week. You will not regret it.

You might remember Morgan Housel from a piece I wrote called “Everyone is a Genius!” where I summarize Housel’s book called Psychology of Money: Timeless Stories of Wealth, Greed, and Happiness.

Books I am Going to Read

This may be a Three Action Thursday first: I am going to list the books I intend to read/listen to next. Maybe you’ll dive into one of them with me?

Quotes I am Pondering (DOUBLE DOSE Plus)

Whatever you are not changing, you are choosing. Read that again.

Growing older is mandatory. Growing up is optional.

~ Quote Author Unknown

Everyone should carefully observe which way his heart draws him, and then choose that way with all his strength.

~ Hassidic saying

Most of us serve our ideals by fits and starts.  The person who makes a success of living is one who sees his goal steadily and aims for it unswervingly.  That’s dedication.

~ Cecil B. De Mille, American film director, producer, and actor

The most common way people give up their power is by thinking they don’t have any.

~ Alice Walker, American author, and activist

Have no fear of perfection; you’ll never reach it.

~ Marie Curie, Polish and naturalized-French physicist, and chemist

Fill your bowl to the brim and it will spill.
Keep sharpening your knife and it will blunt.
Chase after money and security and your heart will never unclench.
Care about other people’s approval and you will be their prisoner.
Do your work and then step back.  The only path to serenity.

~ Lao Tzu, from  “Tao Te Ching,” philosopher and poet of ancient China
